Who has been accused under murder crime charges?
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s office in Nogales, Arizona, confirmed on Monday that George Alan Kelly, 73, was arrested last week in the killing. Authorities think the victim was 48-year-old Gabriel Cuen-Butimea, who lived in Nogales, Mexico, just south of the border because he was carrying a Mexican voter registration card.
Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Gerardo Castillo said the killing occurred on January 30 in the Kino Springs area, just outside of Nogales, Arizona. Public records show that Kelly’s cattle ranch is at the same address where the murder took place. The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office says that on January 30, they found Cuen-body Butimea’s between 100 and 150 yards from Kelly’s house.

Do the murderer and victim know each other?
The fatal shooting is still being looked into, and the chief deputy of the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office says it doesn’t look like Kelly knew Cuen-Butimea before the shooting. But Kelly’s friend told KOLD that he had had problems with people on his property before, even though he thinks Kelly was acting in good faith. Federal court records show that Cuen-Butimea has a history of illegally crossing the border between the US and Mexico.
