With A $140 Million Global Weekend Box Office Triumph, Black Adam Challenges The “Hierarchy Of Power”
Dwayne Johnson has, as he has been saying for a long time now, challenged the “hierarchy of power” at the movies with Black Adam and its impressive $140 million global weekend box office victory. However, it is still unclear what his true impact on the DCEU will be.
Box Office Mojo estimated that Black Adam made a total of $140 million, including $67 million domestically and another $73 million internationally. This was sufficient to surpass Shazam!’s opening weekend gross of $53.5 million and place right behind Aquaman’s $67.8 million.
Black Adam still needs to make back some of its production costs, which came to $195 million before marketing. But it has achieved one milestone: surpassing The Mummy Returns’ $68.1 million and a number of Fast & Furious movies as Johnson’s best opening. This is his best debut as the main actor in a movie.

It is so jam-packed with underdeveloped characters and overdone action sequences that its half-baked discussion of what it means to be a hero gets lost in the din.”

The weekend’s other new release, Ticket to Paradise, came in second with a $96.6 million global debut. The movie, which starred George Clooney and Julia Roberts, earned $16.3 million domestically and $80.2 million abroad.
Halloween Ends came in first with $8 million, followed by Smile with $8.3 million and Lyle, Lyle, and Crocodile with $4.2 million for third place.

Although Black Adam Is Strong, Can He Defeat Shazam And Superman?
The Suicide Squad, the JSA, and the Justice League may take a nasty beating from Black Adam. Shazam and Superman would present him with a significant challenge, though. Due to their similar origin stories, Black Adam and Shazam share the same set of DCEU magic abilities, placing both heroes roughly on the same power level as Superman. Ultimately, whoever is prepared to put up more effort would certainly prevail, and given Black Adam’s ambiguous morals—in contrast to Shazam’s immature demeanour and Superman’s restraint—he would probably be the victor. Even though the Shazam family had fought Dr. Sivana, they would be in grave peril if they encountered the more seasoned and merciless Black Adam, who, despite possessing similar powers, could easily destroy them.
According to Black Adam’s post-credits sequence, which brought Henry Cavill’s Superman back, The Man of Steel himself is the only DCEU character Earth could rely on if Black Adam got out of hand. In a confrontation with Superman, Black Adam wouldn’t think twice about employing all of his brutality, and the actor’s anti-hero would struggle to be contained without inflicting a lot of casualties. Although Black Adam’s cruelty might force Superman to use drastic methods like snapping Black Adam’s neck, the battle would come down to stamina and strategy given their similar power levels.
