About Black Mafia Family
American crime thriller BMF (“Black Mafia Family”) follows the Black Mafia Family, a group involved in drug trafficking and money laundering. Starz debuted the series on September 26, 2021. The show’s second season was ordered after the first, debuting on January 6, 2023. The narrative that inspired BMF is that of two brothers who, in the late 1980s, emerged from the ruins of southwest Detroit to form one of the most powerful crime families in the country. The charismatic leadership of Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, the savvy financial sense of Terry “Southwest T” Flenory, and the shared ambition of the brothers to expand their empire beyond the drug trade and into the realm of hip-hop would make the Flenory brothers household names across the world. Their shared commitment to the family would serve as the bedrock of their partnership and the lynchpin of their ultimate breakup. A tale of thug capitalism, romantic betrayal, and the American ideal.
