The defending AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals will play the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium on Sunday. Cincinnati is coming off a bizarre overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1.
As for the Cowboys, they’ll be spending Saturday making roster adjustments. According to reports, the Cowboys are putting defensive end Tarell Basham (quad) on injured reserve and cutting rookie defensive tackle John Ridgeway to make room on the 53-man roster for quarterback Cooper Rush and kicker Brett Maher.
Now, Basham will sit out four contests. Although they won’t be playing this week, Dak Prescott, Jayron Kearse, Connor McGovern, and Michael Gallup will all be on the team.
If Ridgeway, an Arkansas draught pick, makes it through waivers, the Cowboys intend to re-sign him to the practice squad. Today, Dallas made two more official changes. Backup quarterback Will Grier and offensive lineman Alec Lindstrom were both given bigger roles.
Last week’s 23-20 loss was especially painful for Cincinnati because the Bengals scored a touchdown with no time left to play that would have tied the game. However, the ensuing extra point was blocked. More heartache for the Bengals as both teams missed field goals in overtime, and Pittsburgh won with a game-winning kick from 53 yards out as time ran out.
Dallas suffered various kinds of losses in Week 1, as did the rest of the league. The Cowboys’ offense struggled mightily in their 19-3 loss against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, and things didn’t improve much when starting quarterback Dak Prescott went down with a fractured thumb. In Week 1 of the NFL season, the Cowboys were the only team that did not score a touchdown.

It now looks like Prescott will get better quickly from what was thought to be a serious injury. He might even be able to play against the Philadelphia Eagles, a rival team in the same division, in Week 6.
Rush, Dallas’ quarterback, will be in the starting lineup for the foreseeable future and is tasked with leading the team on its first scoring drive of the year.
