Danielle Fishel Claims That The Creator Of ‘boy Meets World’ Threatened To Dismiss Her

In the most recent “Pod Meets World” podcast, Danielle Fishel said that “Boy Meets World” creator Michael Jacobs threatened to fire her after her first rehearsal.

Jacobs didn’t tell the 12-year-old actress what he wanted in private. Instead, he put her down in front of her mother and the rest of the cast, she said on a podcast about the 1990s sitcom.

“Michael starts the notes by saying, “Danielle, I’m going to give you all of your notes at the end, and I’m going to give everyone else their notes now because if I made everyone sits here through all of the notes I had for you, we’d all be here for hours and no one would ever get to go home. So you’ll just wait until it’s over,'” Fishel thought back and said that even talking about it now made her sweat.

She knew that the first actress cast as Topanga Lawrence had already been fired and that as her replacement, it would be easy for her to be fired, too. “From that point on, my eyes started to fill with tears because I’m now in front of everyone. “For a second, all the producers, all the writers, and all the actors are looking at me,” she said.

Fishel said that at the time, she spoke too quickly and that Jacobs told her, “All I know is that if you don’t come back tomorrow and do this completely different, you’re not going to be here either,” referring to the girl she had replaced.

When she came back to work the next day, Jacobs was happy with what she had done. “There were no more threats of being fired because I had done my job and shown him I was worth keeping,” she said. “It’s clear that you should do that every week. You are looking for Michael’s approval, which is a dragon.”

Will Friedle, who played Eric Matthews, also remembered that Jacobs gave praise sparingly. “He set it up so that when he gives you a standing ovation, it’s like the sun is shining on you. Your acting had nothing to do with it. It was just, make Michael feel good,'” he said.

David Trainer, who directed the first two seasons of the ABC show and was a guest on the podcast episode, said that hearing about the incident made him “really pissed” and made him want to quit the podcast. I don’t want to be connected to anything he’s connected to. This is not how things are done. I’m glad it was popular, but this is awful.”
