Since its inception as a manga series in 1984, “Dragon Ball” has remained one of the most popular media franchises in existence today. Over the years, it has been adapted into a variety of anime series, films, and even video games, with seemingly endless storylines still to come in the future. A boy named Goku is the focus of the anime series “Dragon Ball,” which features a monkey tail among its many other impressive abilities. The two of them meet a spunky young lady named Bulma, and the two of them set out in search of seven powerful dragon balls that when brought together can grant any wish. Goku eventually begins training under Master Roshi to learn martial arts, and it is during this time that he meets his best friend Krillin for the first time. Over the years, I’ve learned a lot. Throughout the series, Goku and his friends embark on numerous adventures, meet new friends (and foes), and have a great time.

“Dragon Ball Super,” which premiered in 2015 and takes place after the defeat of Majin Buu, is one of the most popular series in the “Dragon Ball” franchise (via Anime News Network). According to Anime News Network, “Dragon Ball Super” aired for 131 episodes before being canceled in 2018. Since then, there haven’t been any updates on the popular spin-off — at least not until now.

Many fans are wondering if there will be a second season of the accompanying anime series “Dragon Ball Super” after Toei Animation announced that a second “Dragon Ball Super” movie will premiere in 2022. Here’s everything we know so far about the second season of “Dragon Ball Super.”

Dragon Ball Super Season 2: Expected Release Date

Season 2 of “Dragon Ball Super” has yet to receive any official announcements, but fans can expect it to premiere within the next year or two at the earliest. The upcoming “Dragon Ball Super” film will be released in 2022, and Toei Animation will most likely distribute the film’s premieres over a number of years. Considering that the first “Super” film (titled “Dragon Ball Super: Broly”) premiered in December, it’s possible that the next film in the spin-off saga will also premiere in the winter, which would put the premiere of “Dragon Ball Super” Season 2 as soon as 2023.

According to the International Business Times, Toei animator Florence Jay Dominguito may have dropped a hint about the future of the “Dragon Ball Super” in an interview. A recent interview on the Dragon Ball website featured Dominguito discussing his hopes for the franchise’s future, and he expressed them as follows: “As a fan, I’m looking forward to seeing the new movies and purchasing new merchandise. I’m also looking forward to the new anime that will serve as a continuation of Dragon Ball Super.”

This led many fans to believe that “Dragon Ball Super” Season 2 was imminent, but as IBT pointed out, there may have been a mistranslation: “Japanese translator and social media influencer Ken Xyro pointed out what the Toei animator said — “I’m also excited to see if there will be a new continuation of Dragon Ball Super television anime.” Although it is unclear whether this was an unintentional slip-up or a rumor gone astray, it is clear that fans want more “Dragon Ball Super,” and they are looking forward to the announcement.

Dragon Ball Super Season 2 Cast

It is likely that we will hear from a number of the franchise’s veteran voice actors if and when “Dragon Ball Super” Season 2 comes to fruition. Fans can look forward to seeing characters such as Goku (played by Masako Nozawa in the Japanese version and Sean Schemmel in the English version), Krillin (Mayumi Tanaka/Sonny Strait), Bulma (Aya Hisakawa/Monica Rial), Piccolo (Toshio Furukawa/Christopher Sabat), Master Roshi (Masaharu Satô/Mike McFarland), Trunks (Takeshi Kusao) and more other cast members

“Dragon Ball Super” Season 2 will feature Ryo Horikawa, who plays Vegeta in the Japanese version of the show. He recently tweeted a major hint that he will be returning for the second season, though he did not provide any specifics. IBT reported on Horikawa’s cryptic tweet, in which he teased that he’d just left a meeting with Toei Animation but wouldn’t divulge any details about the meeting. It was torturous. It’s reassuring to know that something monumental is on the horizon, whether it’s the upcoming film or Season 2 of the highly anticipated television series.

Dragon Ball Super Season 2 Plot

However, despite the fact that there haven’t been any new episodes of “Dragon Ball Super” since 2018, the manga of the same name has continued to thrive, with two additional arcs ready for possible adaptation to television. It was left off after the Universal Survival arc, and those who have been following the manga will know that the next storyline is the Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc, which introduces a new creepy goat-headed villain. Granolah the Survivor is the current saga in the “Dragon Ball Super” manga, and it follows the story of the only survivor of a race that was wiped out by the Saiyan army.

In the event that either of these sagas is adapted for television, expect plenty of exciting battles to take place on the small screen. Of course, Toei could create a completely new storey arc specifically for the show. We’ll have to be careful not to get our hopes up too much until they make an official announcement about it. Fortunately, “Dragon Ball Super” is available to rewatch on streaming services such as Funimation and Crunchyroll, allowing fans to get back into the action while they await new episodes.
