Ahsoka, starring Rosario Dawson, marks the live-action debut of Ezra Bridger, the Star Wars animation character voiced by Eman Esfandi. Esfandi’s acting resume features roles in the best picture nominee King Richard and the Robert Rodriguez horror film Red 11, both of which premiered at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.
In addition, he will soon be seen in the critically acclaimed LGBT military drama The Inspection, which premiered this week at the Toronto International Film Festival. Taylor Gray provided the voice of Ezra Bridger in the 2014 season premiere of Star Wars Rebels.
The protagonist developed from a young orphan with a natural affinity for the Force into a dedicated Rebel who studied the Jedi arts. The story was initially reported by the geek culture website Cinelinx. Jedi Master Ahsoka Tano, played by Dawson, made her live-action debut in the second season of The Mandalorian and made an appearance in The Book of Boba Fett.
In addition to Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakhno of Ukraine and Natasha Liu Bordizzo of Australia also star. Both Hayden Christensen (as Anakin Skywalker) and Ray Stevenson (as an unnamed antagonist) are back. We do not know much about the plot, but we do know that it involves Tano, a former Imperial officer, traveling to the far reaches of the galaxy in quest of Grand Admiral Thrawn.

With the series finale of Star Wars Rebels, both Thrawn and Ezra vanished into thin air. Dave Filoni, co-creator of Star Wars Rebels and Ahsoka’s father, is scripting and executive producing the show alongside Star Wars guru Jon Favreau.
Peter Ramsey, co-director of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and winner of an Academy Award, is directing at least one episode of the series, wrapping up production on its first season. The casting news arrives in the wake of Saturday’s D23 panel, which is widely anticipated to provide an exclusive first look at many upcoming Star Wars-related projects.

There have been fan-casting suggestions circulating online, including Aladdin actor Mena Massoud, for months regarding who might portray Ezra in the series. On Friday, the rumors finally died, and Massoud was relieved. So relieved that the rumors can now die down.
