Luke Knox, a football player at Florida International University and the brother of Buffalo Bills star Dawson Knox, passed away at the age of 22 on Wednesday.
The university did not say what killed Knox, but they said they were sorry and would be there for his teammates, family, and friends.
FIU’s head coach, Mike MacIntyre, said that Knox was a caring and dedicated team member and that he admired Knox’s love for the sport. but “his genuine love for his family and teammates is what I will always remember.”

Knox played linebacker for four years at the University of Mississippi under MacIntyre before transferring to FIU.
Before joining the Bills in 2019, Knox’s older brother, Dawson Knox, also played for Ole Miss. The Knox brothers are from Brentwood, Tennessee, which is a town near Nashville.
“Our hearts go out to Dawson and his family during this time, and we’re right there with him and supporting him and his family,” McDermott said. “Just tragic news that I woke up to this morning. We love him and we support him.”
Lane Kiffin, the head football coach at the University of Mississippi, also wrote a tweet about Knox.

FIU Athletics said in a statement that “coaches and support staff have been reaching out to our football family and will continue to do so to ensure our student-athletes have the support they need.”
The FIU sports site says that Knox played for the University of Mississippi as a linebacker, a tight end, and on special teams. During the 2021 season, he played in seven games for Ole Miss and made 11 tackles.
