Georgia Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Greene’s Husband Has Filed For Divorce of “irretrievably broken” Marriage
Marjorie Taylor Greene, a controversial Georgia Republican congresswoman’s, husband Perry Greene filed for divorce on Wednesday, saying that his marriage is “irretrievably broken.”
According to court documents, Perry Greene, who wed the fiery politician, is also requesting that the divorce proceedings be kept confidential “because the parties’ strong private interest in keeping the records sealed outweighs the public’s minuscule interest in accessing said materials.”
Greene and his 48-year-old wife had already split up, according to the Floyd County, Georgia, Superior Court divorce petition.
According to court records, the pair wed in 1995 while they were both students at the University of Georgia.
According to the brief, “sensitive personal and financial information” will probably be made public throughout the lawsuit, “which would adversely harm the parties’ privacy interests.”
In a statement provided to Fox News, she declared, “I am a great believer in marriage. It is a lovely thing. ” Our society is developed when a husband and wife build a family to care for and protect. Perry and I established our family together and brought up three wonderful children. He assigned me to the highest-paying position a person can hold: mom. He is a wonderful father to our kids, and I will always be grateful for that. “
Her husband issued the following statement:
“For the past 29 years, Marjorie has been both my dearest friend and the most wonderful mother. The most essential thing we have done is prioritize our family. As we follow various trajectories, we will keep our attention on our three amazing children, their future endeavors, and our relationship.
Greene first attracted attention for endorsing QAnon conspiracy theories. Since then, she has spent her first term without committee assignments, fighting with colleagues, and denying any involvement in the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021. USA TODAY asked Greene’s campaign for an interview or comment earlier this month, but they didn’t answer.
