Ghostbusters: Firehouse Begins Filming in the UK with First Look from Set
Fans of the Ghostbusters franchise can finally breathe a sigh of relief, as filming for the highly anticipated new installment, Ghostbusters: Firehouse, is officially underway in the United Kingdom. The filmmaking duo of Gil Kenan and Jason Reitman, who are the director/co-writer and producer/co-writer respectively, gave fans a glimpse of the first day of filming on set.
Reitman and Kenan shared a behind-the-scenes photo on social media, captioned “Back in the Firehouse! Day One!” The image shows Reitman holding a Ghost Trap, while Kenan is sitting on a camera dolly with a film slate that reveals the working title of Firehouse.
While the photo doesn’t reveal much, it is exciting for fans to see that production has finally begun. Reitman previously shared a photo of an under-construction recreation of the Ghostbusters’ headquarters interior, which generated a lot of buzz among fans.
As per a previous report from Production Weekly, the film was listed under the supposed codename of Hell’s Kitchen. However, the filmmakers have confirmed that Firehouse is 100% the working title. In fact, Hell’s Kitchen was only meant to be used internally for casting, but it leaked out.
For those who missed the previously released pre-production photos, one showcased an under-construction set made to replicate Los Angeles’ Engine Co. 23, the location used as the interior of the Ghostbusters Firehouse in the first film and the 1989 sequel. The other photo shows Kenan wearing a pair of Ecto Goggles.
Ghostbusters: Firehouse is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 20th, 2023. Fans can keep checking Ghostbusters News for future updates and exclusive coverage of the highly anticipated film.
