“Good Burger 2” Release Date 2023: The Iconic Film Sequel Is Coming To Paramount+
Get ready for a blast from the past! Good Burger, the iconic fast-food restaurant sketch from the hit 90s Nickelodeon series “All That,” is making a comeback. Paramount+ and Nickelodeon Studios have officially greenlit a sequel to the cult classic, and the original stars, Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, are back to reprise their roles as Dexter and Ed.
The duo made the exciting announcement on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday, sending waves of nostalgia through the audience. Fans have been eagerly waiting for news of a sequel since the first movie hit theaters more than two decades ago.
According to Variety, production will begin in May, and the cameras will start rolling on “Good Burger 2” in a matter of months. The movie is set to premiere on Paramount+ later this year. The official logline for the movie reads, “Dexter Reed is down on his luck after another one of his inventions fails. Ed welcomes Dex back to Good Burger with open arms and gives him his old job back. With a new crew working at Good Burger, Dex devises a plan to get back on his feet but unfortunately puts the fate of Good Burger at risk once again.”
The first movie, released in 1997, was based on the Good Burger sketch from “All That.” The sequel will bring back its original writers, Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert, who also serve as executive producers, along with fellow writer James III. Phil Traill will direct “Good Burger 2.”
“I can’t believe it’s been a little over 25 years since great customer service was born at Good Burger!” Thompson said in a statement. “Being a part of something so many generations of people have come to love has made me so proud, and now to be back where it all began working on the sequel is surreal!”
“Ed is one of those timeless characters that has brought so much joy and laughter to fans, and it’s such a beautiful blessing to still be doing it after all these years,” Mitchell added. “It’s super awesome to come back and continue the stories of Dex, Ed and Good Burger for both the people who grew up watching and their kids.”
Fans can’t wait to see what the lovable duo has in store for them in the sequel. The news of the sequel follows a 2015 reunion sketch on The Tonight Show, which previously teased what could happen if Good Burger ever decided to open its doors again.
