HBO renews House of the Dragon for season 2 after record-breaking premiere
The prequel show to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, has been officially picked up for a second season. Its first episode just came out a few days ago. HBO, which pays for the show, made the decision after the pilot episode broke all records for how many people watched it in just a few days.
Game of Thrones, which came before this show, ran for eight seasons on HBO from 2011 to 2019. On Sunday, House of the Dragon became available to stream on HBO Max. In India, it is also available on Disney+ Hotstar.
According to numbers released by HBO, nearly 10 million people in the US watched the show on its first day. Since then, the number has grown to 20 million. On the other hand, 13 million people watched the most-watched episode of Game of Thrones. This is the most viewers that any HBO show has ever had in its first week.
Reports say HBO gave season two the go-ahead because this show is an enormous success. The executive vice president of HBO programming, Francesca Orsi, was quoted in The Hollywood Reporter as saying, “We are so proud of what the whole House of the Dragon team has done with season one.
Our fantastic cast and crew took on a considerable challenge and blew away everyone’s expectations, making a show that has already become must-see TV. George RR Martin, Ryan Condal, and Miguel Sapochnik deserve a huge thank you for taking us on this journey. With season two, we are even more excited to bring the epic story of House Targaryen to life.
House of the Dragon is based on the book Fire & Blood by George RR Martin. Showrunners Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik turned it into a TV show. Martin’s book series A Song of Ice and Fire was the basis for the TV show Game of Thrones. The series takes place close to two hundred years before the events of Game of Thrones.
It looks at Westeros, the fictional continent in Martin’s books when it was ruled by the Targaryen dynasty. It is about the Dance of the Dragon, a civil war in the House of Targaryen that led to their downfall. Even though “House of the Dragon” has not shown its second episode yet, HBO has already given it the go-ahead for a second season.
Nearly 10 million people watched the first episode of the “Game of Thrones” prequel series, which takes place 170 years before the first show. This was an HBO record for the premiere of a new show. HBO says that more than 20 million people have watched the first episode in the past week.
“House of the Dragon,” tells the story of the civil war that brought down House Targaryen, the family of fan favorite Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke. There will be ten episodes in the first season.
More “Game of Thrones” content may come to HBO after season two of “House of the Dragon.” The network is working on a sequel series to Jon Snow, and author George R. R. Martin has said in interviews that there are more than six projects in different stages of development.
