Who Killed Mr. Krabs in Spongebob and How did He Die?
SpongeBob SquarePants has been a favorite among kids for over two decades. The absorbent yellow sea sponge has left its mark in media beyond television, including comics, movies, video games, and more.
But recently, many SpongeBob fans have been left frightened after discovering a viral document that recounts Mr. Krabs’ death and seemingly implicates SpongeBob and Plankton.
The document, titled The Trial of SpongeBob SquarePants, detailed the gruesome manner in which Mr. Krabs died and the evidence that connected his murder to other individuals. Twitter users have re-ignited interest in the case by recommending that their followers research Mr. Krabs’s death online.
A CASE AGAINST SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS
Class challenges based on “The Trial of SpongeBob SquarePants” seem like a fun idea for classrooms. The primary document found by fans is a two-page PDF outlining the circumstances of Mr. Krabs’ death and listing the statements of witnesses and proof.
Simply reading the document gives off an air of mystery and slight unease. In contrast, there is a second, 11-page PDF version of the same document that includes worksheets and instructions that make reference to dividing a class into teams to play the role of the defense or the prosecution.

The activity appears to be designed to get students to evaluate the facts presented, putting aside their prior knowledge of the SpongeBob series to figure out who killed Mr. Krabs.
HOW DID MR. KRABS DIE?
Mr. Krabs is found with his neck slashed in the Krusty Krab restaurant in the Trial of SpongeBob SquarePants document. The coroner’s report states that Mr. Krabs’ wound was made with a metal spatula, and a similar spatula was discovered near the body, stained with his blood.
The back of Mr. Krabs’ skull also showed symptoms of blunt-force trauma. The grease-splattered floor made keeping your footing in the Krusty Krab difficult. SpongeBob’s footprints, along with those of several other people, were discovered in the grease but not in the pool of Mr. Krabs’ blood.

Krusty Krab’s cash register was empty, and Mr. Krabs’ safe was opened without the secret Krabby Patty recipe inside. However, there were no signs of a break-in. Mr. Krabs’s claw had a minor gash that had started to heal, and it was estimated that the injury had occurred a few weeks prior.
WHY DID THE REAL KILLER OF MR. KRABS GETAWAY?
It is up to whoever is taking part in the challenge to determine who murdered Mr. Krabs. The prosecution and defense can argue that SpongeBob is innocent or guilty, respectively. But if we examine the data for ourselves, we can see that there are several potential scenarios for Mr. Krabs’s demise.
It is possible that he slipped on the wet floor and accidentally slashed his throat, but it still does not explain the missing money from the safe and register. Here the finger of blame is pointed at Mr. Krabs’ longtime competitor, Plankton, who started selling burgers with a remarkably similar recipe to the famed Krabby Patty not long after Mr. Krabs’ death.
However, things got more complicated when he went to the bank two days after Plankton started selling the burgers and paid off the rest of SpongeBob’s house loan. According to the report, SpongeBob is resentful since he has never received a pay increase in his ten years of service at the Krusty Krab.
Possible explanations for Mr. Krabs’ death on the slippery floor include an accident, as opposed to a deliberate plan to steal the Krabby Patty formula by SpongeBob and Plankton.
