Fans of the How to Train Your Dragon series may be surprised to hear that a new installment is in the works from Universal Pictures and DreamWorks.
From 2010 to 2019, the first animated trilogy raked in a total of $1.6 billion from theaters around the world.
Hiccup, a creative young Viking from the Berk Hamlet, is the protagonist of How to Train Your Dragon. However, he is culturally uneducated when it comes to the ancient art of dragon-slaying.
But his life takes a turn for the better when he forms a friendship with Toothless, a rare Night Fury dragon; the two of them discover that dragons aren’t as scary as they seem.
How to Train Your Dragon 4 Release Date
Production in Los Angeles, California was scheduled to commence on June 30, 2023. The film’s production was postponed due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which were very unfortunate.
A full year after its original March 14, 2024, release date, How to Train Your Dragon is now scheduled for June 13, 2025. Who is in the Cast of How to Train Your Dragon?
The new How to Train Your Dragon remake has cast only two characters so far.
Mason Thames, who starred in the horror smash hit The Black Phone for Universal, and Nico Parker, who was in HBO’s The Last of Us not long ago, will play Hiccup and Astrid, respectively.
Additional characters that are expected to be cast in the live-action version include:

- Gobber the Belch (blacksmith)
- Fishlegs Ingerman
- Snotlout Jorgenson
- Tuffnut Thorston
- Ruffnut Thorston
Jonah Hill, America Ferrera, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Kristen Wiig, and T.J. Miller were among the actors featured in the original How to Train Your Dragon.
Randy Thom, who was responsible for vocal effects in the original films, may reprise his role as Toothless, a crucial character who will undoubtedly be depicted by CGI.
Will Live-Action Happen? The Dragon Training Movie?
It has been indicated that this will most likely be a sequel to the original HTTYD film, which followed the adventures of a young Hiccup who was not destined to be a Viking.
Stoick, the chieftain of Berk, is deeply disappointed by this development because he devotes a great deal of his time to plotting ways to protect his community from the terrifying dragons.
Seeing Hiccup’s bond with Toothless—a rare Night Fury—in a live-action adaptation would be a dream come true. In particular, their first flight together with Hiccup tending to the dragon’s wounded tail.
Regrettably, Hiccup’s newfound understanding of dragons and his affinity with them clashed with the customs of his people in Berk.
In contrast, Berk and Toothless bravely stand up to protect their home from a gigantic dragon known as the Red Death in the original film. By working together, they rescue the village and win over the Vikings, who come to accept dragons more readily.
As a result, Hiccup goes from being an outsider to a hero, and the two species are able to live in harmony in the subsequent films, marking a turning point for the better in Berk.
