American country music artist Jeffrey Alan Cook was born in the United States. He was most known for playing guitar, fiddle, and other instruments as a member of the band Alabama. On November 7, 2022, Cook passed away at the age of 73 due to complications from Parkinson’s disease.

Jeff Cook Career
In 1972, Jeff Cook, together with his cousins Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry, co-founded the band Wildcountry (the name was changed to Alabama in 1977). His contributions to the group’s recordings included lead and backing vocals, lead guitar, keyboard, and violin. Cook has created the groups Cook & Glenn and the Allstar Goodtime Band, with which he has performed since the band ended active production and performances in 2004.
Cook built Cook Sound Studios, Inc. in his hometown of Fort Payne, Alabama, in addition to establishing radio station WQRX-AM, which he eventually sold in nearby Valley Head, Alabama. Cook is also well-known for his culinary accomplishments, having run a restaurant and marketed his own sauce. Cook endorsed former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee’s 2008 presidential campaign and made appearances with him in Alabama. In 2019, Alabama inducted Cook into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum.

Cook and fellow musician Randy Owen renamed Alabama in 1977. With the addition of full-time drummer Mark Herndon, the group began to acquire traction in the country music industry in the 1970s. Starting with eight Number One songs such as “Tennessee River,” “Feels So Right,” and “Mountain Music,” the group’s RCA career was nothing short of amazing.
Their album sales topped 75 million, and they became the only group to win the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year Award three times in 1982, 1983, and 1984.
