However, the show was not picked up as a series. Later that year, Hartley played millionaire Oliver Queen on the CW series Smallville for seven episodes. Following the departures of Kristin Kreuk, Michael Rosenbaum, Laura Vandervoort, and John Glover, he returned to Smallville as a regular cast member in 2008.
