Keanu Reeves’ Last Moment Of Bliss: “Smiling and Laughing and Giggling” With Alexandra In Bed
Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves recently offered a rare insight into his relationship with artist Alexandra Grant. Speaking to People magazine, the notoriously private “John Wick” star revealed that his last moment of bliss was just a few days prior, spent “smiling and laughing and giggling” in bed with his 49-year-old girlfriend. “We were in bed. We were connected. We were smiling and laughing and giggling. Feeling great. It was just really nice to be together,” Reeves said.
The 58-year-old actor and Grant first crossed paths in 2009, and have since collaborated on two of Reeves’ books, “Ode to Happiness” and “Shadows.” The couple officially went public with their relationship four years ago, following years of dating in secret. They made their red carpet debut together at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles in 2019.
In a 2020 interview with British Vogue, Grant shared that “Ode to Happiness,” a picture book for adults, was originally created as a private gift for Reeves. The delight shared by their friends when she gave him the book, however, prompted them to publish it. “All our friends sitting in the room got the giggles when I gave it to him — they said, ‘Please publish it!’ So that’s how we got into publishing,” Grant explained.
Despite being open about their relationship, Reeves and Grant are known for their preference for privacy. In a 2019 interview with Parade, Reeves said, “I came to Hollywood to be in movies. I feel really grateful that I’ve had that opportunity, but I’m just a private person, and it’s nice that can still exist.” When asked about his status as an “eligible bachelor” just months before going public with Grant, he replied, “Well, I’m not married.”
British Vogue also inquired about Grant’s interest in marriage in 2020. She playfully dodged the question, emphasizing the significance of love in her life and her belief in the value of relationships. “Love at every level is deeply important to my identity. How’s that for dodging the question? I do not believe that isolation is the way. There is a period of isolation that I do as a painter, but I deeply value the experience of being in relationships,” she said.
In his interview with People, Reeves shared some lighthearted details about his life, including his enjoyment of dancing, his love for flying in dreams, and his recent interest in chess. “Sometimes I’m the first out there and sometimes I need coaxing,” he said of dancing. “Sometimes it’s the song and sometimes it’s the person. I just go with the feeling.”
As for his recurring nightmares, Reeves teased that they were “too scary to describe,” but he loves flying in dreams. Regarding games, he revealed that he has been on a chess kick lately but is still learning. “If you don’t know how to play, I’m great—yeah, I’m a master. And if you’re really good, I’m terrible,” he joked.
Lastly, Reeves mentioned that his most recent sunrise occurred during a bout of jet lag. “I was recently traveling in Japan and had some wonderful jet lag and got to see the sun rising in Kyoto,” he said. “Those are always cool. You have to stop, like, ‘Aren’t we glad to be here?’”
