Lauren Daigle’s Early Life
Daigle was raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, after being born in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Her upbringing exposed her to blues, Cajun, and zydeco music. Her constant singing earned her mother the nickname “the music box” and her home.
Daigle didn’t take music seriously until he was fifteen years old and had a CMV. She missed the next two years of school as a result of this diagnosis. Daigle took voice lessons during that period, which gave her a creative outlet.
She intended to work in missions and the medical sector after graduating from college prep school. Daigle attended a charter school where he finished his coursework in six months, a year and a half ahead of schedule.
Before enrolling in Louisiana State University’s (LSU) Child and Family Studies program, she worked as a missionary in Brazil for a year after leaving her studies behind.

Lauren Daigle’s Music Career
Daigle sang in and led the LSU choir. After her family urged her to sing on American Idol, she auditioned in 2010 and 2012. She was eliminated before the final 24 in 2010 and did not reach Hollywood in 2011. She went to Hollywood in 2012 but was eliminated in Las Vegas.
She debuted on North Point InsideOut’s Hear CD with “Close” and “You Alone,” recorded live at North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Georgia. She registered “It is Well” for North Point Music’s 2015 album North Point Beginnings.
A local band called “The Assemblie” (Darkness Falls and Heartbeat) approached her to sing backing vocals on an EP that momentarily topped the US iTunes Store sales. After her EP release, Centricity Music invited her to a workshop.
She filled in for the workshop’s main event singer when she became sick. So she sang on Jason Gray’s “Nothing Is Wasted.” Centricity Music signed her in 2013.
Holiday songs from Centricity artists included Daigle’s first hit, “Light of the World,” from Christmas: Joy to the World (2013). As Daigle’s solo Christian music debut, the tune earned fans and notice.
They invited Daigle to join the Morning Rises Fall Tour alongside Aaron Shust and Mikeschair that year. September 2014 brought Daigle’s EP How Can It Be.
Tour and Other Projects
Daigle and Hillsong United were on the Outcry Tour in the middle of 2015. She also participated in the 2016 Winter Jam Tour, which traveled through the eastern and central regions of the country.
Her debut tour, A Night With Lauren Daigle, was sold out when it concluded in late 2016. Later in the year, she joined King and Country on their holiday tour. Early in 2017, she participated in the Outcry Tour once more.
Her debut Christmas album, Behold: A Christmas Collection, was published in October 2016 and peaked at No. 29 on the Billboard 200. She has a cameo in Needtobreathe’s 2017 song “Hard Love” for The Shack.
She co-wrote and sang the sole original song on the Blade Runner 2049 soundtrack, “Almost Human.” Produced by Michael Hodges, Ashley Culp, and Kayla Morrison, the album peaked at number one on the Billboard Soundtrack Sales Charts.
In 2019, she performed as part of Austin City Limits. On January 13, 2020, she completed the national anthem during the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship in New Orleans.
She performed earlier that month in Christchurch, New Zealand, and at the Festival One Christian Music Festival in New Zealand. Daigle led her second tour, The Kaleidoscope Tour, in 2023.
