Happy Valley Season 3 Release Date
The third season of Happy Valley will premiere at 9 p.m. on January 1, 2023
There is no US release date yet, but it will air on AMC+. The past two seasons of Happy Valley are currently available on BBC iPlayer and AMC+.

Happy Valley Season 3 Cast
Sarah Lancashire plays Catherine Cawood
Sarah Lancashire is set to reprise her role as Police Sergeant Catherine Cawood. The actress from Oldham may be recognizable from her long-running role as Raquel on Coronation Street. She has starred in several television programs, such as Where the Heart Is, Clocking Off, Seeing Red, and Last Tango in Halifax. In a recent film adaptation of the musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, she portrayed Jamie’s mother.

James Norton plays Tommy Lee Royce
James Norton will also reprise his role as Catherine’s adversary, the cold-blooded killer and sex criminal Tommy Lee Royce. Norton is renowned for his roles in the television series Grantchester, War & Peace, McMafia, and The Trial of Christine Keeler. In addition, he has starred in the films An Education, Rush, and the 2019 remake of Little Women.
Talking about the challenges of playing a psychopath, Norton said: “Tommy is an enigma and a puzzle and a kind of a terrifying mess. Genuinely, I am still working him out.
“I did a lot of work into psychopathy and was introduced to some behavioral psychologists and criminal psychologists who were wonderfully helpful in excavating Tommy and his mindset.”
Siobhan Finneran plays Clare Cartwright
Siobhan Finneran reprises her role as Catherine’s recovering addict sister, Clare Cartwright. Fans of period dramas will recognize Finneran as O’Brien, the disgruntled lady’s maid in Downton Abbey. You may also recognize her from her roles in The Stranger, The Widow, and A Confession, among others.
Finneran stated that Catherine’s sister had moved out of the home she occupied with her sister at the beginning of season 3.
Rhys Connah plays Ryan Cawood
Ryan Cawood, the grandson of Catherine, will also return to the show, with Rhys Connah (The White Princess) reprising his role as a 16-year-old boy.
Connah explained how Ryan’s interest in his father would affect the events of the third season “Ryan’s connection with Tommy is complicated because Tommy attempted to murder him. Then again, he’s heard everything stating, “Oh, he was sick,” so he’s curious about Tommy.
Ryan is at a point where he wants to judge for himself, as there is sufficient doubt, and he wants his father to be a nice man, so he wants to believe that things have changed.

New Cast Members For Season 3
Con O’Neill plays Neil Ackroyd
Neil, Clare’s partner and a recovering alcoholic, has been the subject of Catherine’s scrutiny in previous seasons. Still, he has proven to be an indispensable member of the Cawood family.
Amit Shah plays Faisal Bhatti
Bhatti is one of the new cast members for the third season of Happy Valley. He is a pharmacist in the Valley who appears to be in a mess of his own, i.e.; he is an intriguing character.
Mark Stanley plays Rob Hepworth.
Rob, a new character introduced in season 3, is Ryan’s football coach and appears to have a temper. He is the father of two young kids and the spouse of Joanna, but there is more to this pair than meets the eye.
Mollie Winnard plays Joanna Hepworth.
Joanna, Ryan’s wife and mother of their two small girls is a mysterious character who appears to be struggling. When Catherine apprehends her, we learn of mysterious occurrences in her neighborhood that lead to something far more terrible in the Valley.

Charlie Murphy plays Ann Gallagher
Ann, the daughter of billionaire industrialist Nevison, was abducted by Royce on behalf of Nevison’s angry accountant, Kevin Weatherill, in season 1. (Steve Pemberton). She was raped and held captive by Royce, but she recovered and joined Catherine in the police force during season 2.
George Costigan as Nevison Gallagher
Nevison, a wealthy business magnate, was the victim of a sadistic scheme in season 1 because he refused to offer his accountant a raise. Nevison is adjusting to life without his wife Helen, who died recently from cancer.
Rick Warden plays Mike Taylor
Inspector Taylor has been a mainstay in Happy Valley for many years. He works closely with Catherine and is the bearer of bad news for Catherine, Ryan, and Tommy Lee Royce in this new season.

Who Else Appears In Happy Valley Season 3?
Derek Riddell (Shetland, The Missing) and Karl Davies (Emmerdale, Chernobyl) reprise their roles as Catherine’s ex-husband Richard Cawood and son Daniel Cawood, respectively.
Also returning are Vincent Franklin (Gentleman Jack, Bodyguard) as Superintendent Andy Shepherd, Shane Zaza as PC Shafiq Shah, Mete Dursun as PC Gorkem Tekeli, Chord Melodic as another PC dubbed ‘Sledge,’ and Ishia Bennison as Joyce, who all work at the police station alongside Catherine.
Oliver Huntingdon from The Rising will portray Ivan, Jack Bandeira from Sex Education will play Matija, and God’s Own Country’s Alec Secareanu and Gentleman Jack’s Anthony Flanagan will complete the group.
