When they took the stage to a big cheer from the crowd, Fox hugged Lloyd, and Lloyd put his arm around Fox. This showed that they were both very emotional. Variety says that a video of the reunion has been seen by more than 7 million people on Twitter.
Someone on Twitter wrote, “It is so sweet to see Michael J. Fox hug Christopher Lloyd in this way. I think it is safe to say that Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd are the ones who own them today. How it should be.
It is a beautiful time right now.” Fox joined “Back to the Future” after filming had already begun, and Lloyd had already filmed scenes with Eric Stoltz, who played Marty McFly in the first movie.
Director Robert Zemeckis decided that Stoltz was not the right choice for the part. He then hired Fox and had to reshoot some scenes. Lloyd said at NYCC, “I didn’t know Michael other than hearing about him” (via Uproxx).
