N.O.R.E. Apologizes For His Disastrous ‘Drink Champs’ Interview With YE

The “Drink Champs” co-host and co-founder acknowledged in a “The Breakfast Club” interview that he felt he had let his audience down by continuing the topic in spite of West’s comments.

Although Kanye West is no stranger to controversy, some of his remarks on George Floyd on Sunday are drawing criticism. Since West made the comments while being interviewed, N.O.R.E., real name Victor Santiago, has apologized for allowing them to air.

Kanye’s ‘Drink Champs’ Episode Taken Down, N.O.R.E. Apologizes

N.O.R.E., the co-host and co-founder of “Drink Champs,” reportedly confessed in an interview with “The Breakfast Club” on Monday that he felt he “failed my people” by continuing the debate in the wake of West’s divisive comments on the program. He said that while he could point the finger at West, he preferred to talk on “The Breakfast Club” in an effort to accept responsibility”.

West, also known as Ye, appeared in the “Drink Champs” episode that Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Revolt TV later pulled.

“I intend to be sincere. According to Variety, N.O.R.E. stated, “I favor freedom of speech. I believe that no one should be censored. But I oppose anyone being harmed. I had no idea how offensive Kanye’s comments on George Floyd on my show were. You must keep in mind that it was the first five minutes of the show; for example, when he walked in, he threatened to leave if we stopped shooting. I wanted the man to talk, therefore.

N.O.R.E. Confronted West About Some Of His Comments, And As A Result, He Received A Number Of Irate Comments On Social Media.

N.O.R.E. received a moderate reprimand from Charlamagne for inviting West to the show in the first place and for not interrogating him earlier in the more than three-hour-long discussion. He emphasized that he gave N.O.R.E. two warnings not to permit the interview.

N.O.R.E. highlighted that he “checked” West on some of the most contentious statements made concerning George Floyd, including the claim that Floyd actually died from a fentanyl overdose rather than being killed by police officer Derek Chauvin.

The Host Denied Allegations That Parts Of West’s Comments Were Cut Out Of The Conversation And Insisted That Nothing Was Changed.

“I want to apologize to the family of George Floyd… I want to express my regret to anyone who was offended by something said on my platform. I don’t want my people to think that I didn’t speak up at the time, but if you watch the entire three hours and 38 minutes of the interview, I speak up five, six, or seven times for George Floyd and Black people, N.O.R.E. said, via Variety.

N.O.R.E. claimed that he and the group didn’t want to experience a “Birdman moment” (Birdman walked out of a Breakfast Club interview in 2016). Later in the program, N.O.R.E. claimed to have “checked” Ye on his remarks, however, he acknowledged he was “already intoxicated” at that point and that his pushback may have gone unnoticed.

He said, “I’m sorry to the family of George Floyd. I sincerely regret any harm caused by Kanye West’s remarks.
N.O.R.E. was questioned about Drink Champs’ decision to conduct the interview at all at the 3:40 minutes in the video below in light of Ye’s most recent antisemitic remarks. N.O.R.E. answered by focusing on how Ye had treated him in one-on-one encounters in the past, while simultaneously denouncing Ye’s current behavior.
