Olivia Wilde Wins In Custody Battle Against Jason Sudeikis
Olivia Wilde, the celebrated American filmmaker and actor, has emerged victorious in the first round of the custody battle against her ex-husband, Jason Sudeikis. The couple, who share two children, a son, Otis, and a daughter, Daisy, have been locked in a legal battle over their children’s custody. According to court documents seen by Page Six, a judge has dismissed Sudeikis’s custody petition against Wilde, citing the children’s home state in California.
Sudeikis had filed a custody petition against Wilde in a New York City family court in October 2021, following their split. Both parents wanted to live with their children, with Wilde intending to take them with her to Los Angeles, and eventually to London, where her boyfriend, Harry Styles, lives. Meanwhile, Sudeikis desires to live with the kids in Brooklyn.
Wilde had earlier filed a petition in the Superior Court of California, Los Angeles, requesting the New York court to dismiss the case filed by Sudeikis. According to The Daily Mail, Wilde told the court that Sudeikis was aggressively trying to threaten and embarrass her in public, which was not in the best interest of the children. The judge’s decision to dismiss Sudeikis’s custody petition is a significant win for Wilde, who has accused her ex-husband of trying to intimidate her in public.
Wilde also took issue with the way Sudeikis served her parental notice during the CinemaCon 2022 event while she was on stage promoting her movie “Don’t Worry Darling.” She told the court that Sudeikis could have handed over the notice to her more discreetly, but he aggressively did that, causing embarrassment and humiliation.
Despite their split, Wilde and Sudeikis have continued to co-parent their children between London, Los Angeles, and New York City. The couple broke up in 2020, and their custody battle has been ongoing since then. Wilde’s victory in the first round of the custody battle may give her an upper hand in future legal proceedings.
It remains to be seen how the custody battle between the two will end. But for now, Wilde can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that the court has ruled in her favor.
