When was the launch of Overwatch 2 done?
Overwatch 2 is almost here, but it is still hard to understand what that means. The official release date for the game is October 4, but it is so different from the last one that players might still have many questions about what it is when it comes out and even how much it costs.
To help you understand all of this a little better, we have answered some of the most important questions you might have about Overwatch 2 before it comes out.
WHEN DOES OVERWATCH 2 COME OUT?
Blizzard says that Overwatch 2 was released around 3 p.m. EDT/12 p.m. PDT on October 4 all over the world.
CAN YOU PRE-DOWNLOAD OVERWATCH 2?
On September 30 at 4:30 p.m. EDT/1:30 p.m. PDT, PC players can pre-download the game from the Battle.net client. The competition for PC is about 50 GB in size. Console players can start pre-downloading the game on October 4 at 12 p.m. EDT/9 a.m. PDT. The download will take about 30 GB.
HOW TO DOWNLOAD OVERWATCH 2?
If you already have the first Overwatch game, you can get the second one as an update. It is a significant update (about 50GB on PC and 30GB on console), but it means you do not have to download a new game. Just open the game and look for updates.
The Overwatch 2 update should start downloading right away. When the game comes out in your time zone, new players can get it by searching for “Overwatch 2” on Battle.net or in the online stores for Nintendo, PlayStation, or Xbox.

WHAT IS SMS PROTECTION?
SMS Protection is a new feature that Blizzard is adding to help keep cheaters, bots, and banned players from playing Overwatch 2 now that the game is free-to-play. As a form of two-factor authentication, players must link their cell phone numbers to their Blizzard accounts.
CAN I PLAY OVERWATCH 2 EARLY?
Nope. There was a beta and an alpha for the game, but they are both over now, so you will have to wait a few more days.
Blizzard is calling the release of Overwatch 2 “early access,” but this seems to be a way to show that the game is still in development and that the PvE single-player and cooperative parts are not ready for launch.
