When Will The Pixel Watch Be Released?
The Pixel Watch finally has a release date after years of hints and false starts. Google has confirmed that the product will come out at the same time as the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, which are also coming in the fall of 2022.
Pixel Watch Price Rumors
The only way to know how much this watch will cost is to look at how much similar products from other brands cost. For example, the Series 7 Apple Watch from 2021 starts at $400. On the other hand, the 2021 Fitbit Charge, which was made by Google, came out for less than $200.
We think Google will try to find a middle ground: This price range is also backed by a recent source, but we can’t be sure it’s right. The price will depend on the model, such as whether it has a bigger watch face or can connect to a mobile network.
How Much Will The Pixel Watch Cost?
Even though there have been many leaks about the Pixel Watch, no price has been given.
Still, we can make a guess based on the fact that the latest Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 costs £249 (US$249) and that a bigger model with 4G costs £309 (US$329). We wouldn’t be surprised if the Pixel Watch is about the same.
At the very least, it should cost less than the Pixel Watch Fit, a sporty model that a leaker says will cost around $400.
Will Pixel Watch Work With An iPhone?
Google says that it only works with Android phones running Android 8 or higher. Google showed off the Pixel Watch, and it doesn’t look like it will work with iPhones. The first smartwatch from the company will work with phones that run Android 8.0 or later.
What Features Does The Pixel Watch Support?
As part of the announcement, Google showed off official press photos of the watch, which confirmed images that had been leaked by Jon Prosser and others, proving that it has a modern, round shape.
Officially, we don’t yet know things like the size of the case, the hardware inside, or all of the Watch’s features. However, Google’s I/O teaser gave us an idea of how it will look, with a “bold circular, domed design” and a “tactile crown.”
The case is said to be made out of recycled stainless steel, and it seems to hold special silicone straps that twist onto the body.
As for the software, we already know that the Pixel Watch runs the company’s Wear OS, which is thought to be version 3.0 when it comes out. However, notorious leaker Evan Blass had previously tweeted a screenshot of what looks like an online manual for the Watch with “Wear OS 3.1” selected in the drop-down menu.
Again from I/O 2022, Google says that the Pixel Watch will have “Fitbit’s industry-leading health and fitness tools, right on your wrist.”
Even though that’s a pretty vague note on its own, the fact that Fitbit (which Google bought at the beginning of 2021) will now work as a Wear OS-compatible experience separate from the company’s activity trackers is a big change in how users will be able to use Fitbit’s technology and should make it available to a much larger audience.
Back to the rumors, leaks, and speculation, the back seems to have a heart rate monitor, which is thought to be based on Fitbit technology, and the body of the smartwatch looks a bit thicker than we first thought.
Earlier rumors talked about three different models, 1GB of RAM, and 4G LTE support on one of the models.
Android Police says that the Pixel Watch has been listed on the backend inventory system of a US network under the codename “Rohan.” It says that it will come with 32GB of storage space and will be available in grey, black, and gold.
The GWT9R, GBZ4S, and GQF4C are the three models that have passed Bluetooth SIG certification, which could be for the three colors above.
9to5Google also has information about how big the Pixel Watch’s battery is. The site says it will have a 300mAh battery, which is bigger than the 247mAh battery in the Galaxy Watch 4. This means it should last about 24 hours, and the site says it will be available with cellular connectivity.
In addition to the leaks from Prosser below, 9to5Google also has some information about the Pixel Watch. The site found changes to a Google app that talked about

This is like a tag that Google uses for Android phones, and it suggests that the watch will have features that aren’t available on other phones. This could include processing on the device itself, and pictures from the Wear OS 3 emulator show how this could look.
The publication also heard about the chipset that is expected to run the show. It’s not the 5nm Exynos W920 that runs Samsung’s current Galaxy Watch 4 line, but it is still Samsung silicon.
9to5Google says that the Pixel Watch will actually run on the much older 10nm Exynos W9110 from 2018. This is around the time that Google first said it was working on a smartwatch, which is convenient. The original Samsung Galaxy Watch also used the same chip.
Even though the W9110 chipset is less efficient than the W920, it will reportedly be paired with a low-power co-processor in the Pixel Watch. This co-processor will handle tasks like “continuous heart rate monitoring and sleep for health and wellness, faster tilt-to-wake responsiveness, step counting, alarms, timers, and haptics” when the watch isn’t being used directly.
It will also take some of the load off the main chipset when it is in use, making the Pixel Watch, at least in theory, more power-efficient per pound than the 2018 Galaxy Watch with similar specs.
LetsGoDigital found a patent for the Pixel Watch from 2020, which suggests that it might have gesture controls. It’s something we’ve seen from Google before, in devices like the Pixel 4, but it wasn’t great, so it will be interesting to see how it works in the Pixel Watch if Google decides to use the idea.
Prosser didn’t know much about the specs, but his source said that there will be about 20 different band options to choose from. Prosser has said in the past that the official marketing for software uses phrases like “Your world at a glance,” “Your health at a glance,” and “Your agenda at a glance.”
As we’ve already said, we’ll have to wait for more information about the Pixel Watch, such as its screen size, resolution, and how it will connect to other devices, but Prosser says “it might be safe to assume that this might be part of Google’s own silicon.”
