Princess Diana Is Honored by Elizabeth Debicki in Her “The Crown” Premiere Dress
Elizabeth Debicki paid Princess Diana the highest tribute possible.
In Season Five of “The Crown,” the actor, 32, who previously played the late Princess of Wales, takes over from Emma Corrin. Debicki paid tribute to her role at the premiere of Season Five of the Netflix show, even though the most recent season does a great job of re-creating some of Diana’s most famous fashion moments, like the “revenge dress.”
On November 8, Debicki wore a gorgeous black Dior gown as she arrived at the premiere event at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London. It brought to mind Princess Diana‘s powder blue outfit from 1987 that she wore to the Cannes Film Festival.
Debicki’s dress, which was part of the Dior haute couture spring 2022 collection, shares several characteristics with Diana’s Catherine Walker-created garment.
Both dresses have ribbed bustiers and are floor-length, strapless dresses. Both patterns also feature a fluttering stole worn around the neck.
The Dior gown reportedly took two people 300 hours to make, according to Vogue. The magazine also claimed that Debicki added diamond rings, bracelets, and ear cuffs to complete her glam ensemble with yellow, pink, and white gold and diamond jewelry.
Prior to November 11’s Remembrance Day, which honors military personnel who have lost their lives in battle, the Australian actor also wore a poppy pin.
Diana wore silver heels and aquamarine and diamond jewelry when she appeared in her chic ensemble for the film festival.
Diana’s attire is still a hot topic of conversation. Debicki discussed donning some of Diana’s most recognizable looks this season in an interview with TODAY.
The actor recalls one of the outfits as being a totally white tracksuit with cowboy boots, cutouts, and a baseball cap. “That is simply the most brilliant thing I have ever seen, I exclaimed.
She also praised Diana’s “revenge dress,” a small black Christina Stambolian dress she wore when Charles admitted to an affair in the 1994 documentary “Charles: Private Man, the Public Role.”
The actor remarked, “She obviously made the decision to make a statement.” She certainly had a unique sense of style.
“We feel a lot of responsibility with what we do, as actors in this program,” Debicki said of her preparation for Diana. “But we also realize that we’re not trying to achieve a likeness, I guess.”We’re trying to capture sort of essence.”
The sixth and final season of the program, currently in production, will feature Debicki as well as the remainder of the Season Five ensemble.
