Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra brought their daughter Malti Marie home for the first time on Mother’s Day weekend. She had been in the newborn intensive care unit for more than 100 days.
On Sunday, they posted the first picture of her on social media to mark the occasion.
In the sweet photo, Chopra, who is 39 years old, is holding Malti Marie on her chest while Jonas, who is 29 years old, holds her little arm.
Along with the photo, the “Quantico” star and a member of the Jonas Brothers said in a joint statement, “On Mother’s Day, we can’t help but think about the last few months and the rollercoaster ride we’ve been on, which we now know so many other people have also been on.”
“After more than 100 days in the NICU, our
Chopra and Jonas said, “Every family’s journey is different and requires a certain level of faith.” They also said that theirs was “challenging,” but looking back, they realized “how precious and perfect every moment is.”
“We are so happy that our little girl is finally home, and we want to thank every doctor, nurse, and a specialist at Rady Children’s Hospital in La Jolla and Cedar Sinai in Los Angeles, who were there for us every step of the way without expecting anything in return,” they said as a final thought.
“The next part of our story starts now, and our baby is a real badass. MM, let’s do it! Your mother and father love you.”
Chopra and Jonas then added their own special Mother’s Day messages to the posts.
In a message to Jonas, the “Matrix Resurrections” actress, who is having her first child, said, “There is no one I’d rather do this with than you. Thanks for giving me a child. @nickjonas I adore you.
In his post, the “Jealous” singer told his wife, “Babe, you inspire me in every way, and you are taking on this new role with such ease and steadiness.”
“I’m so glad to be going through this with you,” he said. “You are an amazing mother already. Have a good Mother’s Day! I’m in love with you.”
Chopra and Jonas said in January that they were “overjoyed” to have gotten a surrogate to carry their first child.
It’s been three years since they got married. In 2018, they got married in India in a big, three-day party.
Since then, they have said many times in interviews that they want to have children.
Chopra told Tatler magazine in March 2020, “It is something I definitely want to do, and I hope it will happen when God wants it to, at the right time.”
