Early life

Adam C. Sambora was a manufacturing foreman and Joan (née Sienila) was a secretary when Richard Stephen Sambora was born on July 11, 1959, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Sambora was reared as a Catholic and is of Polish ancestry[6]. The Woodbridge High School he attended was his final stop before heading off to college in 1977. He was a member of the Woodbridge High School basketball team that won the 1975 Group 4 State Championship as a sophomore.

The accordion was Sambora’s first instrument, which he learned to play when he was six years old. After Jimi Hendrix’s death in 1970, he was 12 when he started playing guitar for the first time. Sambora was heavily affected by the blues and rock & roll of the 1960s from the time he was a child. Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Winter, Jimmy Page, Joe Perry, George Harrison, and B. B. King were among of his most significant musical inspirations, in that order. His lifelong passion for the Spanish guitar originated as a result of his exposure to classical Spanish music. His musical approach was influenced by psychedelic soul singer Janis Joplin in the late 1960s and early 1970s, he said. He drew inspiration from classical music for a number of his compositions, such as the piano ballad The Answer. Sambora can also play a variety of other instruments, including drums, bass, saxophone, and piano. A Catholic Youth Organization dance was when he made his theatrical debut as a teenager.
