Taylor Swift’s ‘Anti-Hero’ tops Hot 100 for 2nd week, Rihanna’s ‘Lift Me Up’ debuts at No. 2.
“Anti-Hero” by Taylor Swift remains at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 song list for a second week. It made its first appearance at the summit a week earlier, when Swift became the first person to have all ten of the survey’s top songs at the same time.
With “Lift Me Up,” Rihanna bursts onto the Hot 100 at No. 2. It’s her first Top 10 single since 2017 and 32nd overall.
Taylor Swift’s ‘Anti-Hero’ Tops Hot 100 for 2nd Week
According to Luminate, “Anti-Hero,” a song by Taylor Swift that was released on Republic Records, had 35.6 million streams (down 40%), 37.6 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 17%), and 17,000 sales (up 28%), good for top sales gainer honors, during the tracking week of October 28 to November 3. Swift’s website started selling the instrumental version of this song on November 3. This helped her do well.
The song continues to top the Streaming Songs chart for a second week, climbs 9-4 on the Digital Song Sales chart, and drops 13–14 on the Radio Songs chart. (As previously reported, this week’s Billboard airplay charts are the first to use Mediabase-monitored data; this week’s Radio Songs chart combines information from the former monitoring service BDS for the dates of October 28 through to October 30, and from Mediabase for the dates of October 31 through to November 3; moving forward, Mediabase data will power the survey.)
In the most recent Hot 100’s top 10, Swift had four singles, with “Anti-Hero” coming in first, followed by “Lavender Haze” (rankings 2–6), “Midnight Rain” (5-7), and “Bejeweled” (6–9). Each song is from her new album Midnights, which spent a second week at the top of the Billboard 200 albums list (along with all 10 of her top 10 songs from a week earlier).
Rihanna’s ‘Lift Me Up’ at No. 2
Rihanna ties her best career Hot 100 debut with “Lift Me Up,” making her best debut as a lead artist. Lift Me Up rises to No. 2, No. 3, and No. 6 on the charts for digital song sales, streaming songs, and radio songs, respectively.
Notably, the song debuts at No. 4 on the Top 10 Radio Songs list, joining Adele’s “Easy on Me” at No. 4, Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” at No. 6, and Janet Jackson’s “All for You” at No. 6 since the chart’s conversion to an all-genre ranking in December 1998. (No. 9, 2001).
In terms of digital song sales, Rihanna now has 36 top 10 singles, a record-extending 30 on the radio (she comes in 30 spots ahead of Drake, who comes in second with 24), and 15 on streaming. (The fact that the song’s original and instrumental versions were made available on Rihanna’s website on November 2 and that original and instrumental versions with two different covers appeared on November 3 helped the song’s sales start.)
In accordance with the same criteria as the Hot 100, the song debuts at No. 1 on both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot R&B Songs charts. With the addition of “Take a Bow” in 2008, Rihanna becomes the eighth leader on the former list and the sixth on the latter (which began in 2012). With “Wild Thoughts,” she had already topped both charts in 2017.
The song “Lift Me Up” is from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever album, which was released on November 4 (Nov. 11).
