God save the queen or crown. Season five of The Crown arrives in November 2022
The Crown always airs in winter, with Season 5 streaming on Netflix in November 2022. The streaming giant has yet to announce an exact date, but if it follows the pattern of previous seasons, it could debut on the second or third Friday of the month. The year-long wait was due to a break in filming that was always part of The Crown’s schedule. Each season of The Crown covers about ten years of the royal family.
The fourth season ended with Elizabeth berating Charles for his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles and forbidding her to seek a divorce. Meanwhile, Diana is discovered to be having an affair and is similarly warned by Philip that she must form a united front with Charles. But we know that’s not the case, and season 5 is set to explore the slow unraveling of Charles and Diana’s marriage, which officially ended in 1996 after four years of separation and received much publicity.
Princess Diana Will Be the Focal Point in The Crown’s Fifth Season
Princess Diana is clearly the focus of season 5, but there’s already been some drama behind the scenes when it comes to her portrayal. Khan said he worked on the script with Morgan from September 2020 to February 2021 before deciding to leave the project. “It was really important to me that the last years of my boyfriend’s life be portrayed accurately and compassionately in a way that hasn’t always been the case in the past. When I realize that my writing contract wasn’t honored and that certain stories weren’t always told as respectfully or compassionately as I’d hoped, I would remove all contributions from the series. I asked for permission and declined approval,” she said.
