“The First Lady” Cancelled At Showtime After Season 1
The First Lady is an anthology drama series that stars Viola Davis, Michelle Pfeiffer, Gillian Anderson, O. T. Fagbenle, Dakota Fanning, Lily Rabe, Regina Taylor, Kiefer Sutherland, and Aaron Eckhart. The series tells the story of American leadership through the eyes of the women who work in the White House. Many of the most important and world-changing decisions in history have been made in secret by America’s charismatic, complex, and dynamic First Ladies in the East Wing of the government. The first season is about Michelle Obama (played by Davis), Betty Ford (played by Pfeiffer), and Eleanor Roosevelt (Anderson).
Showtime will stop looking into the lives of the people who live in the White House. There won’t be a second season of The First Lady because it has been canceled. The first season, which had 10 episodes, was over in June.
The deadline was the first to report the cancellation, and their statement was: “We would like to applaud the artistry and commitment of our showrunner Cathy Schulman, director Susanne Bier, their fellow executive producers, our amazing cast — led by executive producer Viola Davis, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Gillian Anderson — and our studio partner Lionsgate for their dedicated work in telling the unique stories of three remarkable leaders.”

At TCA in February, Schulman and Bier revealed that they were looking at potential future episodes that would include Melania Trump, Hillary Clinton, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Dolly Madison, Edith Wilson, Martha Washington, or Rosalynn Carter.
The First Lady Season Ratings
The first season of The First Lady, which aired on Sunday nights, had an average rating of 0.02 in the 18-49 age group and 229,000 viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). Even though these numbers don’t include delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how well a show is doing, especially when compared to other shows on the same channel. Even though the show had an all-star cast, ratings and reviews were not very good.
