David Lawrence McCary is a well-known American writer, director, and comedian who has been associated with Saturday Night Live. Emma Stone’s husband is him.
While attending USC, McCary began doing sketch comedy, where he also met Beck Bennett, Nick Rutherford, and Kyle Mooney, all of whom would go on to work with McCary on SNL. They banded up in 2007 to establish Good Neighbor, a sketch ensemble.
Starting in 2013, McCary oversaw pre-taped sketches as a segment director for five seasons of Saturday Night Live, ending in 2018. Along with directing his Good Neighbor co-stars in the independent comedy Brigsby Bear, he was busy at the time.

It was supposedly in December 2016 while McCary was presenting Saturday Night Live that Stone and her met. The pair kept their developing romance under wraps in the beginning, despite the obvious rapidity with which they fell in love.
