She started producing several of Downey Jr.’s greatest films when they started dating, such as Iron Man 2 (2010) and Sherlock Holmes (2009). As a matter of fact, Downey Jr. was chosen for the lead role in Sherlock Holmes because of Susan.

In the Gothika film set in 2003, Robert Downey Jr. meets his future wife. Susan wasn’t convinced she should date the problematic actor, even though he asked her out.

She grudgingly consented to go out with him, but only under certain restrictions. Drug addiction had been the demise of Downey Jr.’s two prior partnerships and had landed him in jail and treatment several times.

Six months after their first date, they became engaged, and on August 27, 2005, they got married. In 2010, they founded Team Downey, a production firm, and in 2012 and 2014, they welcomed their two children.
