Why The MCU’s Blade Movie Is Taking So Long: Why Is Wesley Snipes Not Doing Blade?
Even though it was announced at San Diego Comic-Con almost three years ago, Mahershala Ali’s Blade movie is taking longer than expected to make.
The upcoming Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali hasn’t started filming yet, even though Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced the project almost three years ago. Since then, all of the other MCU projects that were announced at the time have come out, including Black Widow, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Thor: Love and Thunder. Since this is the case, it seems strange that Blade has been left behind.
Blade, whose real name is Eric Brooks, is a character in Marvel Comics whose goal is to get rid of all vampires in the world. Blade, who is also known as the Daywalker, was first shown as a human who was immune to vampire bites.
However, in Spider-Man: The Animated Series, Blade was revealed to be a dhampir, which is a cross between a human and a vampire. Blade, starring Wesley Snipes, is thought to be the first movie that showed how successful comic book adaptations could be. Blade, which came out in 1998, is now considered a cult classic because fans liked it so much.
With all of this in mind, the decision to add the Daywalker to the MCU has been met with a lot of excitement, especially considering Mahershala Ali’s impressive acting history.
In reality, no one knows why it’s taking so long to make Blade. Reports (via CBR) say that Blade’s filming schedule has been moved from July to October 2022, which has made some people worry that the project might be in trouble.
Even though these delays are frustrating, there is no doubt that the Daywalker will show up in the MCU. Not only is he a popular character, but he has already made a brief appearance in Eternals. Blade’s voice can be heard saying to Kit Harington’s character, Dane Whitman, “Are you sure you’re ready for that, Mr. Whitman?” in a scene after the credits.
The Blade Mcu Movie Is Affected By Many Things.
Harington and Ali’s scene sets up the possibility that Blade will join forces with Black Knight, who has the legendary Ebony Blade. Even though Harington’s involvement in a standalone Blade project hasn’t been confirmed, it seems likely that he will be working with the legendary Daywalker again. Before they can move forward, the studio might be trying to get the schedules of actors like Harington to match up.
Many names have already been given to the movie. Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre, as well as director Bassam Tariq and screenwriter Stacy Osei-Kuffour, have agreed to work on the project. In fact, a report from The Hollywood Reporter says that the movie wasn’t made until July 2022 instead of September 2021 so that Osei-Kuffour could have more time to work on the script. There might still be changes being made.
The original bloody comic books about the Daywalker don’t fit easily into the more common PG-13 rating for the MCU, which may be causing problems. The perfect fit for the Daywalker’s official MCU debut will take time and probably more than one draught.
Even though the announcement of Blade in July 2019 was met with a lot of excitement and anticipation, the time since then has been frustratingly long. Some people think that Marvel will talk about the project at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, so there is still hope that we will hear more about it soon.
No one knows for sure why Mahershala Ali’s character, Daywalker, hasn’t been seen in front of the cameras yet, no matter what theories people have about what’s going on.
Why Is Wesley Snipes Not Doing Blade?
Even though Snipes has aged well, we’re willing to bet that the guy who taught us all those cool martial arts moves in his many action movies can still kick like a boss. Also, when it comes to casting, age is becoming less and less important.
