Planned Release Dates for World of Warcraft: Classic and World of Warcraft: Twilight
Blizzard has given a timeline of events leading up to the release of World of Warcraft: The Old Republic, with a time range of a “few months” for these to be completed. These are the steps Blizzard plans to take to get to Wrath of the Lich King Classic.
Restriction on switching from PvE to PvP has been lifted Closed beta testing for Wrath Classic Legacy cloning has ended for good Existing worlds were merged on August 30; New Fresh Start Realms went live with the Wrath Classic pre-patch on September 26, and Wrath of the Lich King went live on November 2.
WotLK Pre-Patch and New Classic Servers
A preview of the upcoming Wrath modifications has been available in the form of the World of Warcraft: Classic — WotLK Pre Patch. The Death Knight class and new talent trees and abilities have been added.
While players will not be able to go to Northrend or gain experience toward level 80, there will be plenty of new content and features to try out during the Pre Patch. That means many raids on the Sunwell Plateau, where the new rules will be tested.

As if the addition of new content were not enough, Blizzard has also introduced new start servers for WotLK Classic. In order to keep things fair on these servers, we have implemented several measures that do not apply to regular WoW Classic servers.
You cannot level up a character in the Fresh Start worlds for at least 90 days. Transferring your character to a Fresh Start realm will not be an option for at least 90 days. In order to create a Death Knight on these servers, a player must have a character of level 55 already present on that server.
New Content and Alterations
For longtime players of World of Warcraft, the expansion known simply as “WotLK” is one of the most cherished of all time, and it is easy to see why: the development introduced several legendary new zones, raids, and class reworks. A few of the most exciting features of the new content in Wrath of the Lich King Classic are as follows:
The Death Knight is the game’s first playable hero class and a brand new class in the game. New raids are available in Icecrown Citadel, Naxxramas (which has returned), Onyxia’s Lair, the Eye of Eternity, the Obsidian Sanctum, the Ruby Sanctum, the Trial of the Crusader, the Vault of Archavon, and Ulduar.

There are new dungeons in Ahn’Kahet: The Old Kingdom, Ajzol-Nerub, Drak’Tharon Keep, the Forge of Souls, Gundrak, the Halls of Lightning, the Halls of Reflection, the Halls of Stone, the Pit of Saron, the Culling of Stratholme, the Nexus, the Oculus, the Trial of the Champion, Utgarde Keep, Utgarde Pinnacle, and Borean Tundra, Crystalsong Forest, Dragonblight, Grizzly Hills, Howling Fjord, Hrothgar’s Landing, Icecrown, Sholazar Basin, Storm Peaks, and Wintergrasp are some of the new regions and zones on the new continent of Northrend. There is a new raid difficulty system, with ten men, 25 men, and heroic raids available.
