X Men 97 Release Date Status And Time: Magneto Leads the X-Men in Disney+’s Animated Revival
After Disney bought 20th Century Fox two years ago, Marvel Studios is finally working on its first X-Men project, but it’s probably not what fans were expecting.
As part of 2021 Disney+ Day, Marvel has officially announced X-MEN ’97, a new series that will be a follow-up to X-Men: The Animated Series, a popular superhero cartoon from the 1990s. Even though not much is known about the project, it looks like it will be a lot of fun for both longtime and new X-Men fans. It may also show how Marvel plans to handle the mutant characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The X-men ‘97 Release Date
Marvel has said that X-Men: 1997 will debut on Disney+ sometime in 2023, but they haven’t said when exactly.
Who’s in the X-Men cast from 97?
Most of the voice actors from X-Men: The Animated Series will be back for X-Men ’97, Marvel has confirmed. Cal Dodd, George Buza, Alison Sealy-Smith, Lenore Zann, Catherine Disher, Chris Potter, Christopher Britton, and Adrian Hough are all set to lend their voices to the series. Some of them will play the same roles they did in X-Men: The Animated Series, while others will play completely new characters.
X-Men: The Animated Series voice actors Jennifer Hale, AJ LoCascio, Ray Chase, Holly Chou, Matthew Waterson, Anniwaa Buachie, JP Karliak, and Jeff Bennett will also be in X-Men: The Animated Series.
No one knows yet what role any of these actors will play in the show. But it has been said that the show will pick up with the same characters as the original series.
The X-men ‘97 Plot
The plot of X-Men: The Last Stand has not been made public yet. So, according to Marvel.com, the series will start with a “impactful event” that brings the X-Men back together.
Eric and Julia Lewald, who made and ran X-Men: The Animated Series, are also working on the new show as consultants. Head writer Beau DeMayo, who has written for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, The Witcher, and The CW’s The Originals, will be the show’s executive producer.
The head of streaming, TV, and animation at Marvel Studios, Brad Winderbaum, teased the following about the new show:
“This is the first X-Men title produced by Marvel Studios. What an amazing first step to reintroduce audiences to the X-Men with a look at one of the most pinnacle eras of the X-Men comics, which was the ‘90s. That iconic style that has its roots in Chris Claremont, and is celebrated in Jim Lee, and then again in The Animated Series.”
