Were Yeonmi And Her Sister Actually Able to Live On Grass In The Mountains?
Park claims that her mother and father were imprisoned in North Korea for unspecified crimes, but her recollection is different from her mother’s.
Park disclosed that she had initially believed her father’s sentence to be between seventeen and eighteen years, although North Korean records indicated that he had served eleven years. According to Park’s mother, the sentence was extended from one year to ten.
Park disclosed that her mother was incarcerated for six months after her father’s sentence. Although Park’s mother did not claim to be in custody, she did state that over a year, she was periodically questioned.
Therefore, Park and her sister were left on their own in the highlands while their parents were incarcerated, and they are said to have survived on grass.
